Alongside our physiotherapy services, we offer Deep Tissue and Remedial Sports massage. Our massage therapist works closely with our physiotherapists to assist them with their clients or to refer to if a further assessment or opinion is required.
Deep Tissue Massage.
This massage works on the deep layers of muscle tissue to ease chronic muscle tension. The strokes are slow and penetrate into the lower muscle layers using the fingers, knuckles and elbows. Direct pressure and friction over specific knots and areas of prolonged tension help break up and eliminate scar tissue. Deep tissue massage can be painful but brings about a feeling of release.
Remedial Sports Massage.
Sports massage combines the techniques used in Swedish massage with specialised neuromuscular techniques and stretching. The result is improved suppleness and flexibility and a faster healing time for damaged or stressed muscle tissue. This helps to condition the muscles and obtain maximum physical performance. Again, the massage can be painful, but has extremely good effects.
